A Morning Stroll Through Three Villages
Join our guides for a short walk around the Swaledale villages of Reeth, Fremington and Grinton. Reeth was the commercial centre of the dale, particularly during the boom years of the lead mining industry, whilst Grinton was the ecclesiastical centre, huddled around its parish church, known as the ‘cathedral of the dale’. We see evidence of the lead mining industry, mysterious earthworks, and several historic houses along the way.
A level 1 YDNPA walk with one very short ascent on grass and a couple of rather thin stiles, but otherwise the route is on good paths and pavement.
Please wear outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather and sturdy footwear.
