A Short Stroll to Gayle
Spend a peaceful hour with us on this lovely 1.3 mile (2.1 km) walk for a potted history of Hawes and Gayle. We will pass Hawes Auction Mart; walk through picturesque stone walled meadows into the village of Gayle where the former cotton mill has a fascinating history; then walk down the packhorse track for stunning views of the surrounding hills as we drop back into Hawes.
A level 1 YDNPA walk; the route includes stiles, uneven ground and slight gradients.
Please wear outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather and sturdy footwear with good grips.
Dogs not allowed. (Assistance dogs welcome)
