Springtime in Oxenber and Wharfe Woods

Springtime in Oxenber and Wharfe Woods

  • £300

Children are free, but we need to know how many people in total to expect.

A 6 mile (10km) to see ancient Oxenber and Wharfe woods. We will be accompanied by Tony from the YDNPA wildlife team who will help you to enjoy an area rich in Spring flowers. We will observe a variety of habitats – limestone pavement, grassland and wood pasture. On the way we will visit the mysterious Celtic Wall, mentioned by Alfred Wainwright in his “Walks in Limestone Country”. We will also enjoy views of classic limestone scenery and will discuss how the landscape came to be as it is.

A level 4 YDNPA walk led by Bernard Foster with some gradients and a steep climb into Oxenber Wood. There are some stiles and uneven ground.

Please wear outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather and sturdy footwear with good grips, walking boots recommended.
