The Craven Limeworks – a little-known Archaeological Gem
A fascinating 3 mile (5 km) stroll from Stainforth to the site of the Craven Limeworks with its Hoffmann Kiln where quicklime was produced on an industrial scale. This is one of the area’s best kept archaeological secrets and has to be seen to be believed.
The walk is short but the route includes stiles, uneven ground and steps. Please wear outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather and sturdy footwear with good grips.
Walk starts from Stainforth National Park Car Park, BD24 9PF.
Well behaved dogs welcome but must be on short (2m) fixed leads. Dogs must be able to manage stiles on the route.
