For many years, the authors returned, like the birds themselves, to the same upland fells and meadows in Wensleydale and Swaledale to hear the Curlew’s soul-stirring cry and to observe these and other ground nesting birds, raising their chicks.

The book presents images, prose, and poems exposing the beauty and fragility of the curlew.
